Raven’s Backyard was founded in 1997 in Ketchikan Alaska by Phyllis Woolwine, with a core purpose to provide educational opportunities that bring people into a closer, more intimate relationship with the natural world.  Immersion in these experiences takes us beyond the passive observer relationship.  Through these activities we find that we have become a part of the wildness around us, and it has become a part of us.  This purpose remains central as the School of Raven’s Backyard takes its place in Shearwater University.

Arts in Nature Series

The Raven’s Backyard Arts in Nature series provides opportunities to develop skills in creative expression, while immersed in nature and building a more intimate personal connection with the natural world.
